Best Floor Cleaning Solutions Tile | Hardwood Floors | Linoleum Cleaner
76If you would like to save money and clean your floors yourself with a product available at a local store, there are several solutions that may be just what you are looking for. How do you know which floor cleaning product is the best and safe to use around the house? Lets go over what to use in certain situations so the job is easier for you and is done right.
Best Floor Cleaners For Tile
Keeping your tile floor clean is really a matter of staying on top of spills and messes as soon as they happen. The main thing to be careful about is the grout. It can get stained easily as the grout is very porous and sucks up liquid and other materials which will discolor it. Applying alchohol to the grout with some water and perhaps a drop of dishwash liquid, will remove most stains and bring back the natural color.
Many people also like to use vinegar or amonia, I prefer hot water and dishwash liquid just because of the smell. It will depend also on the color of your tile and grout. If it is white, using a couple drops of bleach may also help. Using a good quality rope mop and bucket is the best bet because they can be wrung out properly. Make sure to change the water as needed for the best results. A vacuum with a hardwood or solid surface attachment will also work well to pick up dirt and dust.
Linoleum Vinyl Floor Cleaning
Once again the most popular way to clean linoleum floors is with amonia and hot water. A combination of hot water and a few drops of dishwash liquid in a bucket is also considered a good way to go for heavily soiled floors. You can add a little alcohol to help cut through grease are hard to remove stains. Vinyl is basically the same material as linoleum just a different way of saying it based on the manufacturer.
If you would like to add a little shine to your flooring then try Spic-N-Span or Mop-N-Glo as an alternative. People that are worried about linoleum or vinyl lifting up after cleaning, may just want to try hot water and a mop. Any of these are good floor cleaners
Tips For Cleaning Hardwood Floors
There are many ways to clean hardwood floors and even laminate floors with a few simple cleaners. Pine-sol is one way to get your floor clean and restore the shine at the same time. It also smells pretty good to most people. For a really good cleaning I would suggest mopping first with water and then adding a cleaner to the mop solution for the final touch. It is more work but if you are willing to change the water and do the floors twice, it may be possible to only clean them this deep every other time.
Laminate floors can be cleaned in pretty much the same way as they are not only glued but latched into place. The nice thing about using a little dishwash liquid while cleaning is that it will break through any grease. There are many products which are specifically designed for cleaning certain floors but they are usually pretty expensive. These ideas for floor cleaning will work most of the time and not break the budget.

Great info. on cleaning wood floors and tile! I don't care much for tile but I do like wood floors. I rather clean wood floors than tile any day. Great Hub! Vote Up and a ping!
Great advice - but don't forget the "fragrant ones" like ammonia. That really cuts the dirt and is great on exterior windows, a little higher than the flooring you address!
Good Hub, but you might want to run the spell check on it.
I have tried many over the counter cleaners trying to get my mothers linoleum vinyl floor cleaned and many didn't seem to work to good.Right under my nose I should of tried amonia. Each time I clean it within hours it is dirty again. It is a dust and scuff magnet. Thanks for the help.
The treatment needed for different types of floors is very different.Sawdust is used on some floors to absorb any liquids that fall rather than trying to prevent them being spilt.

Great article. I'm kind or new. Since we can't mention brands, how do we know what cleaners to use?
