BCS Football Title | USC Trojans Could Dethrone SEC In 2012-2013 Season
77USC could very well be the team to beat in 2012 college football. This year LSU and Alabama will be playing for the "National Championship" but next year could have an entrant from another conference and one that is well known for top rankings and national championships. Why is this possible and how could I think that the SEC could be beat? First, One thing USC has always had is great players, Not just on offense but defense too. I am not talking about average joe's either. High caliber players which will and can compete with team speed and big defensive lines like that in the SEC.
This is not just wishful thinking either as past games involving the SEC and USC have proven. Let's take a look at a few reasons why the USC Trojans are a legitimate threat to win it all in 2012.
Matt Barkley Is Returning For USC
Matt Barkley returning for one more year to help the Trojans chase down a national championship is a big help. A few years at quarterback has given Matt the confidence and understanding to run the Trojans offense like the sportscar it could be. With an improving defense along with some key receivers coming back, the USC Trojans are primed to make a serious run at the Bcs title and take down the mighty SEC.
In 2011 Matt Barkley thru for 3528 yards with 39 touchdowns and only 7 interceptions. That is a very imposing stat for most defenses to consider. A year later (2012) he will most likely be even better.
USC will enjoy the return of Robert Woods and have Marqise Lee and Curtis Mcneal to give the offense that extra punch. A talented group that has become familiar playing together. This will spell big trouble for most opponents in 2012.
USC Versus SEC
What is the record of USC playing against SEC teams? According to historical college football data the record is 17-10-1 as of 2007. Wish I had something more recent but it is unavailable at this time. Those with stats for USC versus Sec teams since 2007, please leave comments with a link to your information.
These numbers show that USC has a losing record against 2 SEC teams which are Alabama and Florida. 2-5 versus Alabama and 0-1-1 against Florida. The reason why teams from the Pac 12 have success on a large scale is the tough out of conference play. I know, the SEC loves to say they play tough teams and within their own conference, each team beats up on the other. I actually believe this to be true to a point. The Sec starts each season with a whole lot of votes from sports writers and media who believe the hype that the Sec is the best conference and teams from it should be regarded highly in polls......Once again, I have to agree. They have proven to be the best and until somebody can beat them, this is just the truth! The Bcs Title is never far from reach.....
What make USC special?
I dont really know if USC is special, but what I do understand, is other teams do not want to play them. This has always been one of those college teams that finds a way to win. A history of excellence that each player understands and is not willing to settle for less.
Why does USC have a winning record against the SEC overall when they have the best teams? Because USC is scary and even the mighty SEC knows this much. Does that mean Alabama or say LSU couldn't beat them? No, of course not. They just bring some swagger and ability that the SEC has not faced in a few years.
Why The SEC Could Win The BCS Title Again
The SEC has one thing they always do and that is recruit speed. Aside from those big southern boys, the SEC seems to chase after the fastest players available. This makes sense, and why not when a huge chunck of these players live right in the southeast United States?
The Sec relies heavily on defense, atleast most of the time with a few exceptions recently. Look at LSU and Alabama just this last year. They deserved to be in the national championship game against one another. They say defenses win championships and that seems to be correct most of the time. Although a really great offense will always have the chance to win.
USC has really never been about being flashy on offense like the Oregon Ducks. I like Orgeon and thought they gave both Sec teams a decent game, but the truth is you need a team which plays rough and fast at the same time to beat Sec teams. USC plays a somewhat pro-style offense with a up and coming stingy defense which just needed some time to gel. This is the perfect set of ingredients to dethrone the SEC.

USC May Win The BCS Title 2012 If ?
They have the talent going 10-2 in the 2011 season. They got better each game as the year progressed. Why will USC win the Bcs Title in 2012? They have experience! The quaterback, receivers, and running back are familiar with eachother and the offense.
USC is tired of watching the SEC win the national championship .....There is really no one to stop them on their march to the big game. Of course Stanford and Oregon will have something to say, but not enough in my eyes.
Will the mighty SEC have a representative? I could only think so and cannot wait to see the final results of the Bcs National Championship Game.

Just an FYI for all the USC haters, USC has 11 national titles. That makes them the 2nd most winningest football team in the NCAA 2nd only to bama. Barkleys far from a joke USC will claim its 12th national title in the 12'-13' season. SECOND beware!!
Barkley will be making a joke out of the defenses he'll be dismantling.Trust me the jokes on the Barkley haters.
